Kathmandu, Bagmati province - The Management Division, Ministry of Health and Population, convened a finalization workshop on the Standard for Maintenance of Biomedical Equipment, with support from WHO Nepal and UNITAID. The workshop, held on 12 December 2025, brought together policymakers, senior decision-makers and biomedical engineers to review and finalize the draft prepared through a consultative workshop. The standard is designed to serve as a practical national guide to strengthen biomedical equipment maintenance systems, improve equipment uptime and enhance the quality and safety of health services across Nepal. Building on the “Guideline for Management of Biomedical Equipment 2082” developed with WHO support, the document comprises 13 comprehensive chapters, including equipment profiling, maintenance categorization, calibration, maintenance contracts, monitoring and performance improvement. WHO will support the endorsement of the document and its subsequent implementation.
