Paramyxovirus research and development roadmap

Overview

The Paramyxoviridae research and development (R&D) roadmap outlines a coordinated global strategy to strengthen preparedness against existing and emerging paramyxovirus threats. Developed under the WHO R&D Blueprint, it adopts a family‑based, prototype pathogen approach to accelerate the generation of knowledge, tools and platform technologies relevant to future outbreaks, including Pathogen X.

The roadmap defines priority research actions across epidemiology, laboratory science and the development of vaccines, therapeutics and diagnostics. By identifying key gaps and setting shared milestones, it aims to align research efforts, improve outbreak readiness and support faster, more equitable deployment of medical countermeasures worldwide.
